SUMMARY:Central City Opera presents Amahl and the Night Visitors
DESCRIPTION:A holiday event for audiences of all ages. Performed with a full orchestra.\nThe story of a magic star\, a shepherd boy\, and how unselfish love can work miracles.\nAmahl and the Night Visitors is an inspiring tale of kindness\, generosity\, and hope. It follows Amahl\, a shepherd boy known for telling tall tales\, and his mother who struggles to provide for herself and her son. When three splendid strangers knock on their door seeking respite from their journey\, Amahl is captivated. As the visitors speak of the remarkable child they seek\, Amahl and his mother are moved to offer their humble hospitality\, leading to a miracle. \nNamed “one of the 10 great holiday shows that aren’t The Nutcracker or A Christmas Carol” by the Denver Post\, Amahl and the Night Visitors has quickly become a holiday favorite for Denver families and opera lovers alike. Amahl and the Night Visitors is a family-friendly opera of enduring popularity since its premiere. Commissioned by NBC and debuting on December 24\, 1951\, Amahl and the Night Visitors was the first opera written for television\, as well as the first network television Christmas special to become an annual tradition. Composer Gian Carlo Menotti drew inspiration for the opera from Hieronymus Bosch’s The Adoration of the Magi\, which hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, and from his childhood in Italy where gifts were brought at Christmas by the Three Kings instead of Santa Claus.

SUMMARY:Reflections with Steve Roach
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to 40 Years of Silence: a celebration of Steve Roach’s ambient masterpiece\, Structures From Silence. Steve leads us on a 2-hour journey\, mapping a sonic trajectory born from a life dedicated to the soundcurrent and the activation of the mythic Imagination. Originally released in 1984\, Structures From Silence is a timeless work of emotional depth and atmosphere that resonates even deeper today. Join us for a transcendent evening as Steve opens portals of unyielding beauty within this historic Denver church. \nMore than just another tape filed in the New Age section of the local record shop\, Structures From Silence was a breakthrough. A vision.\nFrom the opening textures of “Reflections in Suspension” to the celestial cloud drift of the title track\, the entire album is transportative. An Oberheim synth\, a Lexicon reverb\, recorded direct to tape\, and BOOM – the gentlest\, most heartfelt synthesis of European art music and razor’s edge American technology. Where Kubrick envisioned an infinite plane of geometric apparitions\, Roach burnished the edges into a soft wave of infinite\, amorphic possibilities. Close your eyes\, and it’ll last forever. \n7:00pm doors\, 8:00pm show

The concept is to perform concerts\, most of which I will conduct\, of different size ensembles depending on the repertoire\, including full chamber orchestra\, string quartets\, or string chamber orchestras. There will be a mix of professional leadership\, and pre-professionals gaining experience. The orchestra and overhead of the performances will be funded by donations. The concerts will take place in the cities of the chosen charity\, and will optimize for using local musicians. 100% of the ticket proceeds will go to the charity. Eventually\, we would like to have concerts all over the world\, raising money for a variety of charitable organizations.”

SUMMARY:Ars NovaFruition: Shared Visions
DESCRIPTION:Join Ars Nova Singers for the climactic final program of its 38th season\, as they proudly present Shared Visions—a remarkable interdisciplinary collaboration that brings together artists from across Colorado. This multi-year project began with a gallery featuring 24 captivating works by eight visual artists. Poets from across the state were then invited to engage with these works\, using them as a wellspring of inspiration to create new poetry. The resulting anthology\, a testament to the shared visions between visual and literary artists\, served as fertile ground for commissioned choral compositions by four talented Colorado composers. Now\, as our audience\, your presence and engagement will complete this cycle of inspiration and forge the final connection between these diverse artistic disciplines. Immerse yourself in the transformative power of this extraordinary collaboration\, where shared visions come to life\, hearts are moved\, and spirits soar.

SUMMARY:Ensemble Charité: Schubert Reimagined
DESCRIPTION:Save the Date for this upcoming concert benefitting The Preservery Foundation. Featuring selections from Franz Schubert’s Winterreise arranged for string quartet and voice. \nEnsemble Charité is a not-for-profit organization with both charitable and musical ambitions. Eventually\, we would like to have concerts all over the world\, raising money for a variety of charitable organizations.
