DESCRIPTION:Join in Central’s annual tradition of stuffing 120 pairs of warm socks with helpful winter items like travel size deodorant\, shaving cream\, lotion\, shampoo\, toothbrush and paste; razors\, winter beanies\, dental floss\, mints\, and full bars of soap for our neighbors at Heartbeat Denver Working Men’s Program. We will collect these items on Sundays\, December 8th and 15th. Stay after Worship on December 15th to stuff the socks in assembly line style. Children will deliver these Socks of Love to Heartbeat Denver after the 4pm Christmas Eve service. \n

Amahl and the Night Visitors is a family-friendly opera of enduring popularity since its premiere. Commissioned by NBC and debuting on December 24\, 1951\, Amahl and the Night Visitors was the first opera written for television\, as well as the first network television Christmas special to become an annual tradition. Composer Gian Carlo Menotti drew inspiration for the opera from Hieronymus Bosch’s The Adoration of the Magi\, which hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, and from his childhood in Italy where gifts were brought at Christmas by the Three Kings instead of Santa Claus.
