DESCRIPTION:Special Events Series\, October 9\, 16\, and 23 at 6:00pm in the Sanctuary: Reproductive freedom and justice in the context of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision. This series brings a sequence of guest speakers on constitutional law and Christian ethics in the context of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The legal and ethical concept of abortion has historically been narrowly tailored as an “allowance” provided to women on the basis of “justification” based on the circumstances leading to the need for an abortion. However\, the more fundamental\, “co-creation” ethic might be found in a reproductive justice paradigm\, in which the first principle is about the primacy of each and every woman’s personal judgment regarding her ability to have children\, to not have children\, and to raise the children she has. In the unique and singular context of an individual’s life\, the moral consequences of having a child can be equal to\, if not greater than\, the moral consequences of having an abortion because the moral requirements of motherhood are so enormous. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the All Church Intergenerational Retreat at Highlands Camp this Labor Day Weekend! Choose the amount of time that best suits you/your family. Some spend Friday and Saturday nights; some spend just Friday or just Saturday night. The Saturday only day option is also available. The weekend will include access to Highland’s hiking trails\, pond\, archery range\, and climbing rock. We will have spiritual activities\, music\, crafts\, plus games for children giving parents some “alone” time.
