SUMMARY:Mozart Requiem Evermore
DESCRIPTION:The Mozart Requiem Mass has always been regarded as one of the most accomplished masterpieces in the entire history of classical music.  Approximately half of the entire masterwork was composed by Mozart while the remainder had to be completed by two of his students; this became a testament to Mozart’s life and talent being eternal as his musical genius transcended his death.   Mozart’s incomparable artistry and creativity continued without compromise after his death and allowed his final work to become one of the greatest monuments of musical composition for eternity.  My current adaptation of this celebrated classic\, Mozart Requiem Evermore\, intends to popularize Mozart’s Requiem Mass by using digital and electronic music technologies to give it more contemporary appeal while making it more practical to perform.  This new production continues my previous attempts to modernize classic musical works thereby making them more accessible to modern-day audiences.   The Mozart Requiem Evermore tells the story of a struggling musician who moves to the big city to make it big. Along the way\, he meets a group of fellow musicians who become his friends and allies. As they navigate the ups and downs of the music industry\, they learn the true value of friendship and staying true to themselves. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNet profits of these performances are proudly donated solely to our co-production partner\, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance in Denver\, Colorado.

Some of her signature operatic roles include Mimí in La bohème\, Leila in Les pêcheurs des perles\, Donna Anna and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni\, Micaëla in Carmen\, Marguerite in Faust\, and Violetta in La Traviata. She was a member of the closing cast of Phantom of the Opera on Broadway\, making appearances as “Carlotta Giudicelli” since 2016.   \nIn February 2021\, Burnett released her debut album\, Love the Color of Your Butterfly\, which features musical arrangements and collaborations with some of the world’s finest jazz musicians including Christian Sands\, Sullivan Fortner Jr.\, Casey Benjamin\, and Terreon Gully who produced the project. Released on her own record label Clazz Records\, Love the Color of Your Butterfly is an amalgamation of jazz\, opera\, art song\, oratorio\, rhythm and blues\, and spirituals and introduces her concept of “Clazz\,” which encourages collaboration and redefines the parameters of genre while embracing parts of history that are erased\, widely unknown and forgotten. Love the Color of Your Butterfly has been featured in numerous publications including the Financial Times\, Playbill\, Broadway World\, Downbeat Magazine\, and Opera News.  \nwww.janinahburnett.com \n

SUMMARY:Ensemble Charité
DESCRIPTION:Stories in Song\nBach\, Brahms\, Schubert and Haydn\n\n\n\n\nEnsemble Charité will collaborate with Cultural Caravan to present Stories in Song\, featuring: \nYumi Hwang-Williams – violin\, Andrew Krimm – viola\, Joshua Halpern – cello\, Jeremy Reger – piano \nMichelle DeYoung – Mezzo Soprano \n100% of ticket proceeds will benefit The Preservery Foundation\, a Denver-based nonprofit organization that provides hunger relief to people experiencing homelessness. \n\n\n\n\n“Ensemble Charité is a not-for-profit organization with both charitable and musical ambitions. The concept is to perform concerts\, most of which I will conduct\, of different size ensembles depending on the repertoire\, including full chamber orchestra\, string quartets\, or string chamber orchestras. There will be a mix of professional leadership\, and pre-professionals gaining experience. The orchestra and overhead of the performances will be funded by donations. The concerts will take place in the cities of the chosen charity\, and will optimize for using local musicians. 100% of the ticket proceeds will go to the charity. Eventually\, we would like to have concerts all over the world\, raising money for a variety of charitable organizations.”  Michelle DeYoung\, Artistic and Executive Director

SUMMARY:Denver Rock Orchestra: Classic Rock 101
DESCRIPTION:Formed in the fall of 2021 and officially founded as a Denver-based nonprofit in January of 2022\, the Denver Rock Orchestra may be the new kids on the block\, but we’re here to rock! After two years of shuttered venues\, cancelled gigs\, and wary audiences\, the DRO arose from the intense desire to reconnect musicians with their craft\, make fun music together\, and cultivate a new\, positive musical community. We are female-founded\, committed to accessibility/accountability in our community\, and dedicated to fostering good-vibes. \nEnhancing Denver’s vibrant arts and culture scene\, the DRO is here to celebrate popular music\,\ncombining the high art of the orchestral sonic experience and the toe-tapping\, body-shaking\, guitar-smashing catharsis that can only come from turning the dial up to eleven. We are here for the playlist makers\, the top-40 savants\, the genre-curious\, and those who grew up on a steady diet of music videos. \nThe DRO’s leadership and roster of instrumentalists (strings\, woodwinds\, brass\, percussion\, and more!)\, vocalists\, and support crew all come to the ensemble as volunteers with regular day jobs\, home lives\, and side hustles. \nTheir uniting force? The intense desire to ROCK!

SUMMARY:Denver Gay Men's Chorus presents Winter Soulstice
DESCRIPTION:Like the Winter Solstice\, hinting at the light to come and the birth of new opportunities\, Winter Soulstice celebrates the holiday season and DGMC’s new Artistic Director\, Johnny Nichols\, Jr.\, with music that honors the earth\, celebrates diversity\, and dances to the festive rhythm of soul music. \nThe Denver Gay Men’s Chorus has been an LGBTQ catalyst for change through musical excellence since its founding in 1982. With more than 300 concerts during its 42-year history\, this 140-member ensemble is one of the premier gay performing arts organizations in the Rocky Mountain Region. Through its diverse and socially charged programming\, DGMC’s reimagined choir concerts entertain\, educate\, inspire\, and empower audiences to foster acceptance and tolerance throughout the greater Denver area and along Colorado’s Front Range communities. \nDGMC has performed in Denver and around the U.S. in acclaimed concert halls\, including Boettcher Concert Hall\, the Ellie Caulkins Opera House\, Gates Hall\, the Paramount Theatre\, the Red Rocks Amphitheater\, and Carnegie Hall. Additionally\, the chorus has delivered groundbreaking performances at Coors Field\, in the U.S. Air Force Academy Chapel\, and on the steps of the Colorado State Capitol as part of inaugural festivities for Governor Jared Polis. DGMC has traveled to 12 states\, the District of Columbia\, and Canada and has made joint appearances with several gay men’s choruses in major U.S. cities \nIn 2023\, DGMC was among the first GALA choruses to present Disney PRIDE\, a musical celebration of LGBTQ life\, love\, and perseverance. \nIn addition\, they have premiered new-commissioned choral works from acclaimed composers such as Andrew Lippa\, Nathan Hall\, Alan Shorter\, James Deignan\, and Craig Carnahan. Guest artists that have performed alongside DGMC include Ann Hampton Calloway\, Margaret Cho\, Alan Cummings\, Yvie Oddly\, and Diane Schurr. DGMC has performed twice with the Colorado Symphony. \nIn the name of advocating for a better tomorrow\, DGMC has collaborated with The Matthew Shepard Foundation\, the LGBT Community Center of Colorado\, the Colorado AIDS Project\, One Colorado\, the Boulder County AIDS Project\, Out Boulder County\, the Colorado LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce\, PFLAG Boulder County\, and the It Gets Better campaign. DGMC has helped raise awareness of homelessness and housing insecurity issues\, pioneered an educational outreach program to nurture safe learning environments\, and continues to support anti-bullying efforts in Colorado schools. \nDuring its 40th anniversary season\, DGMC collaborated with Cleo Parker Robinson Dance\, a first for both organizations. Aurora’s Rangeview High School Choir joined DGMC for the Colorado premiere of “The Seven Last Words of the Unarmed\,” a powerful multi-movement piece inspired by the last words of seven unarmed black men.   \nDGMC’s future is full of endless possibilities as its mission statement\, “building community through music\,” drives its imaginative motivation for success!
